How to set up Qminder on iPad?

Set up the Qminder app on an iPad device to create your own self-check-in kiosk.

Turn any iPad into a self-check-in kiosk with the Qminder Sign-In App. You can connect as many iPads as you want.

NB! Qminder Sign-in iPad app requires iOS 12 or above.

1. DOWNLOAD THE APP

Download Qminder Sign-In App on the App Store, and open the app to see a 4-digit pairing code.

2. CONNECT THE IPAD

Make sure you have accessibility as Location Manager, Administrator or Owner.

  1. Log into Qminder.

  2. Click on the Location Settings tab (the fourth icon from the top of the sidebar).

  3. On the next page choose iPad from the menu.

  4. Then click on Add iPad, type in the 4-digit pairing code from the iPad app and click on Add.

3. CUSTOMIZE THE SIGN-IN FLOW

Once you have connected your iPad to Qminder, you can edit the sign-in flow to suit your location's business needs best. Check our configuration guide on how to customize the iPad's sign-in flow!

More than one Sign-In iPad is recommended if:

  • Your business area is big and has many entrances.

  • Your business has heavy traffic (more than 300 customers daily) and expect busy hours.

  • You are an event organizer, and you expect several guests to check in within a short timeframe.

4. LOCK THE APP

In order to prevent visitors from exiting the app or interacting with the other functions of the iPad, use Guided Access to limit the usage of the iPad to only the sign-in app: Apple's official guide on how to set up Guided Access

  • Not sure which iPad to buy? Check here for the hardware requirements.

  • Place the iPad on a sturdy stand to make sure the sign-in process is secure and pleasant.

  • You can configure which service lines are displayed on which iPad. For example, the iPad at the front door displays three entry-level services while the iPad in front of the support office displays advanced client services.

  • The iPad will reflect your Opening Hours and show a "closed" sign when visitors shouldn't sign in anymore.
